Haemostats

Haemostats used to clamp and hold vessels to control the bleeding .

It is equipped with a box lock and ratchet so that it may be applied and left in position.

It has “transverse groove” on the inside surface to tips. Commonly called as "Artery forceps".
Spencerwells forceps
It has a transverse groove throughout the length of the tips. Used for clamping large tissue bundles and blood vessels.

Modified Ochsner/ Kocher's forceps
They have transverse groove and with a large tooth at tip which prevent slipping of tissues.

Halstead mosquito forceps
It has longitudinal grooves with cross grooves at the end of the tip. Very small forceps used for point bleeders.

Kelly forceps
It has transverse groove at the distal half of the tip used only for holding small vessels
