D- Glucose polysaccharide (Maltodextrin)

It is used to cleanse and promote healing of open wounds. It is indicated for contaminated and infected wounds.

This provides energy to cell metabolism in healing wounds by yielding glucose.

The wound should be debrided and lavaged. The D-glucose polysaccharide powder is applied over the entire wound to a depth of ¼ inch.

A non adhesive primary pad is placed over the powder, followed by application of contact layer to help ensure the wound healing process is not disturbed.

The powder helps to promote chemotaxis of polymorphonuclear cells, Lymphocytes and macrophages into the wound. It also helps for the reduction of wound odour.

Reduction of infection as early diminution of exudates early formation of granulation tissue and growth of epithelium.

It is found to be more helpful for chronic wounds and ulcers.
