1.3.1.5 The cytoskeleton
The cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells contain an extensive network of microfilaments and microtubules. These filaments contain a number of proteins including actin and myosin. The main protein of the microtubules are called tubulins. The cytoskeleton has a number of functions, including the maintenance of cell shape positioning cell organelles and cell motility (Spirochactes is an exception among Prokaryotes in having cytoskeleton). |
