Irrigation

Irrigation

    • Irrigation may be provided once in every 10 days during December Large plantations require regular weeding during the first (3-4 times) and second (2-3 times) year of planting and, thereafter, the problem lessens as the foliage covers the entire field.
    • The intensity and frequency of weeding depends upon the weed species, population and diversity.
    • Weeding by scraping the soil surface is a common practice and it should be discouraged because it adversely affects the soil structure.
    • Instead, weed threshing should be carried out twice a year once during May-June and the second time before harvesting.
