Agricultural wastes can be considered to include crop after harvest and primary processing, tree residues, organic / plant residues from social forestry, animal excreta and processing left over from the slaughter.

Lower and agro-industrial wastes. Thus, agricultural wastes comprise all organic wastes produced and disposed off or used in primary agricultural production.

It is estimated that these organic wastes available in India can supply about 7.1, 3.0 and 7.6 mt of N, P2O5 and K2O, respectively.
