Clonal selection

  • Considerable amount of variability exists in the crop in India and much more is available in other cassava growing regions, particularly in tropical south Latin America, which is the centre of origin for cassava.
  • This breeding technique has been used to develop improved cultivars at TNAU such as CO1, CO2and CO3.
