Introduction

Nutritional blindness due to xeropthalmia is an important public health problem among young children in India. Epidemiological evidence indicating that Vitamin A deficiency even at subclinical level is associated with increased risk of morbidity/mortality in children has shifted the focus from xeropthalmia to systemic effects.
