Lesson 14 : Self Heating Systems For Ready To Eat Foods

Introduction

Food is one of the essential requirements preferred for consumption in hot condition. Self heating system is one such requirement of the consumers.

1. Ready to eat retort processed foods are packed in flexible polymeric pouches and processed in specially designed autoclave to attain commercial sterility.
2. These products have shelf stability of more than one year and are useful for service forces.
3. They need to be warmed before consumption for 15-20 minutes.
4. In certain situations the gadgets for warming are not available.
