Lesson 15 : Ventilation

Standards Of Ventilation

  • They are all based on the efficiency of the ventilation to remove body odour.
  • Cubic Space: de Chaumont calculated that a person requires 3000 cu. ft of air at rest per hour. Height above 10-12 feet is not helpful in ventilation.
  • Air change: depends on the purpose
    • Living room: 2 – 3 cycles/ hour
    • Assembly hall/ working area: 4 -6 cycles/ hour
  • Floor space: most important standard. Ideally, floor area should be 50-100sq feet/ person.
