Man-made Water Pollution

Man-made water pollution includes

  • sewage which contains decomposable organic matter and pathogenic agents
  • industrial and trade wastes, which contain toxic agents like metal salts, complex synthetic organic chemicals, etc.
  • agricultural pollution, which comprise fertilizers and pesticides, physical

pollutants like heat (thermal pollution) and radioactive substances.

Other reasons of water pollution includes

  • corrosion of pipe lines
  • leaky joints
  • cross connections between water supply pipes and sewage drainage pipes
