The average gross calorific value of pure carbohydrates, fats and proteins determined with the bomb calorimeter are as follows:

    1g. carbohydrate -------- 4.1 Kcal
    1g. fat -------- 9.45 Kcal
    1g. protein -------- 5.65 Kcal
