Glossary

Melanocytes- are pigmented cells of epidermis containing melanin pigments.
Sweatglands are skin glands responsible for secretion of sweat.
Sebaceousglands
- are skin glands responsible for oily secretion called sebum.
Epidermis
- is superficial cellular layer of skin.
Dermis
- is deeper connective tissue layer of skin.
Skin appendages
- are specialized derivatives of epidermis attached to skin for performing particular functions. e.g. nails, hairs, skin glands etc.
