Glossary

Respiratory alveoli -is the functional unit of lungs where the gas exchange (external respiration) occurs between air & blood.

Pulmonary-is a term used in relation to lungs.

Upper respiratory tract: This includes organs between nostrils & lungs. e.g. nasal cavity, larynx, pharynx, trachea.

Respiratory gases: Oxygen and carbon dioxide are respiratory gases which are exchanged ; between atmosphere & body.
