Glossary

Receptor: are specific protein molecules present in target cells which binds with specific hormone.

Steroid: are lipid soluble derivatives of cholesterol acting as hormones. All adrenal cortical and gonadal hormones are steroids.

Neurohormones: are secretions of nerve cells but acting as hormone. e.g. oxytocin, ADH, adrenalin & noradrenalin.
