Play Area
House Keeping center: A place for keeping cleaning materials and additional curtains , draperies etc
Music center: A place for listening to records, singing, creating dance and playing musical instruments.
Doll corner/area: A special area to study about home set up, cultures, communities and life styles through dolls, models and specimens.
Sand and water play area: A place to learn through sensing experience with sand and water. Children can experiment floating, sinking, pouring, sprinkling etc in water pond and weighing, measuring, moulding, building, drawing in the sand box.
Sand area should be large enough so children can play together. The sand should be 18” deep, so children can dig and play. Keep 5” ground at the bottom of sand box/pit which provides drainage.
Water play can be indoor or outdoor activity depending upon the climate. Big plastic basins can be used for water play. A shallow water tank outside may be converted for water play.
Outdoor play area: The outdoor play equipment should be grouped according to use. Enough free area should be provided for wheeled toys. Swings, slides, jungle gyms etc should be fixed properly for active play.
