Developmental assessment of Young children 4 (1+3)

Fine Motor Skills

Fine motor skills are more refined and precise movements of the hands and fingers that allow child to functionally reach, grasp and release objects for purposeful manipulation. It is important to consider the child’s fine motor abilities and to look for tremors, overshooting and eye-hand coordination. Fine motor skills appear in developmental sequence like

  • Reaching an object
  • Grasp of an object with one hand
  • Transfer of objects from one hand to another
  • Release of objects actively
