Lesson 14:Interpretation of assessment information

Interpretation of assessment Steps

Assessment is of no use unless interventionist knows what the information means and how to use it to help children develop and learn. Interpretation is a high level process that requires analysis of information, integration of that information with other data, comparison with developmental guidelines and curriculum expectations and valid hypothesis about what it all means. Doing so blends objective information with sensitive judgment to yield a true assessment.

There are two major steps in analyzing and interpreting assessment information.

  1. Ensuring the authensity and trust worthiness of data.

  2. Understanding what it means.
