Food service

Monitoring of food service depends on type of services the center is rendering to the children. If it is providing food the monitoring activities include

  • Quantity, variety and nutritive content to meet recommended allowances
  • Children’s attitude towards meals, food habits
  • Kitchen and dining arrangements
  • Adequacy of space requirements for individual children’s needs
  • Sanitation facilities
  • Maintenance of health and hygiene by staff involved in food preparation and serving
  • Good interaction between teachers and food service staff
  • Disseminating information about children’s food intake to parents
  • Suppliers of food items in terms of cost, quality and supply
