The role of a beginning teacher

A new teacher beginning to teach can find the task a great deal of fun as well as a unique learning experience. Teaching young children carries the obligation to understand and accept many roles and responsibilities associated with the title of ‘teacher’.

The role of a beginning teacher

  • They must be committed to the time and energy to become total teacher.
  • New teachers are expected to learn about individual child’s growth and development.
  • They should also learn how children function in groups with adults.
  • Plan and execute activities that fit the needs and abilities of the child.

    Note:
    • Working with an experienced teacher who models polished skills is an important part of a new teacher’s experience.
    • Team teaching situation can be especially supportive.
    • Identification with a number of professionals can help in formation of identity of a new teacher.
    • First time teaching is a time of anxiety and also time for intensive self searching and self revelations.
