Education Philosophers in ECE
Benjamin S, Bloom: Bloom is a well known educational psychologist of Chicago University. He emphasized the “Heredity – environment” interaction and has supervised studies which determine the variance in child’s academic attainment and level of intelligence as a result of stimulating environment.
Bloom’s contribution to education includes his specific educational objectives which were further developed by Gronlund (1970) into language behaviors, creative behaviors, art behaviors, social behaviors. These behaviors can be developed among preschool children by organizing a number of activities such as working with sand, earth, water, clay, paint, cardboard and other waste material. This helps in creating stimulation and hence accelerates cognitive development in children.
