Pressure of the presser foot

FUNDAMENTALS OF CLOTHING CONSTRUCTION 3(1+2)
Lesson 3 : Sewing Machine

Pressure of the presser foot

The presser foot holds the cloth firmly while stitching. The pressure of the presser foot can be increased by turning the screw on the presser bar to the right. If the pressure is too loose, then the fabric rises along with the needle, thereby affecting the stitch quality. If a fabric does not feed properly, then pressure should be adjusted. Always test the pressure on a double thickness of fabric. If feed dog marks are visible on the fabric, loosen the pressure.
