Needle Breaking

FUNDAMENTALS OF CLOTHING CONSTRUCTION 3(1+2)
Lesson 4 : Sewing Adjustment for Defects

Needle Breaking

  1. Improper size of needles for thread and fabric to be sewn.
  2. The presser foot or attachment not securely fastened to the bar
  3. Pulling of fabric when sewing. Doing so will bend the needle
  4. Long needle coming in contact with the bobbin case. If the needle is too short stitches cannot interlock.
  5. Needle improperly secured to the needle bar.
  6. Presser foot not tightly fastened.

Remedies:

  • Secure the needle by tightening the needle clamp.
  • Replace the bent needle.
  • Secure the presser foot tightly.
  • Do not pull fabric while sewing
