Lesson 5:Axonometric Projection Drawings

Introduction

In projection drawing there is an subcategory known as Pictorials. Pictorials show an image of an object as viewed from a skew direction in order to reveal all three directions (axes) of space in one picture. Parallel projection pictorials rely on the technique of axonometric projection ("to measure along axes").

Axon = axis; metric = measure, in Greek - Axonometric projection is a parallel projection technique to create a pictorial drawing of an object by rotating the object on an axis relative to a projection or picture plane

Axonometric projection is the projection of an object onto a drawing surface with the object positioned so that it appears three-dimensional. The AXONOMETRIC projection is a three dimensional representation in which the lines of sight are perpendicular to the plane of projection. None of an objects face is parallel plane.
There are three types of axonometric projections.
