Methods Of Suspending Window Curtains And Draperies

Today a huge collection of curtain rods to choose from including traverse rods and drapery rods in different materials, sizes, shapes, styles, colors and finishes in both the wood and metal curtain rods. Also included in the offerings are wrought iron curtain rods and ceiling curtain rods or track as well as decorative rods from modern and contemporary to traditional. Specialty rods include tension, swing arm, double and triple curtain rods, curved and corner rods as well as motorized curtain rods Pelmets This is a stiff paneled heading to curtains. It is a solid structure that is mounted above the windows. It can be decorated in numerous ways – from shaping the lower part of the pelmet to adding trimmings and tassels. They are generally seen upholstered but can also be covered in the wall covering or painted.

Curtain rod: Threading the curtain casing or fabric tabs on the upper curtain border onto a rod and affixing the curtain rod to a wall, door or window frame are two common methods of suspending curtains. One drawback to hanging curtains by casings or fabric tabs is that the friction between the rod and the curtain fabric makes it difficult to open or close the curtains.

Spring-Rods also called as Spring Tension-Rods are the easiest to install and will have your curtains up in less than a minute. They don't require any screws, nails, or mounting hardware. They hold themselves up by way of a spring on the inside that 'pushes' them outward very much like the common shower curtain rods do.

Magnetic-Rods: Decorative rods are easily mounted without any hardware since they hold themselves in place with magnets. They come in white, ivory, or brass finish and protrude out about an inch from the door or wall above and below the window

Traverse Rod: It is a heavy-duty curtain rod that is commonly used to hang pleated drapes. It has draw cords and a pulley system to easily open and close the drapes. These have an internal track with slides and master cylinders. The drapes hang on hooks that move on a system of pulleys. The curtains or drapes are attached with drapery hooks and operated by a cord that is mounted to the wall. A decorative traverse curtain rod has hooks that hang down from the main decorative rod. These hooks are for attaching heavy pleated draperies.

Large metal grommets or metal rings affixed to the top of a curtain panel glide easily across a suspension rod. This method of curtain suspension has been used in hospitals for decades. Clip rings can quickly transform just about any piece of fabric into an attractive curtain.
