Lesson 29: Printing methods

Introduction

One form of applying colour in the form of design to a fabric after it has otherwise been finished is called printing.

Printed fabrics usually have clear-cut edges in the design portion on the right side and the color seldom penetrates completely to the wrong side of the fabric. When yarns are ravelled from printed fabrics, the colour will be unevenly positioned on them. Printed designs are broadly classified as listed in the following chart.
