Navigation – Meaning and features

A diagrammatical illustration/representation of the various screens in a multi-media project together with their links and connections created during the design stage of a project to help the team and client visualise the look and structure of a project. This usually takes the form of a number of titled boxes (eg "Home", "Contact", etc), and arrows and lines showing links between them.

Help in organizing the content and messages. A Navigation map (or site map) provides a table of contents as well as a chart of the logical flow of the interactive interface. While at websites a site map is typically a simple hierarchical table of contents with each heading linked to a page, as a more detailed design document the map may prove very useful to the project, listing multimedia objects and describing what happens when the user interacts.
