18.3.2.Feeding Tables
The ration sizes are generally described by the term % body weight/day; practically expressed as kg food /100kg biomass/day. Most tables relate daily food rations to two factors: fish size and water temperature, the percentage of food consumed in relation to body weight decreases as the fish grow larger and their metabolic demands decrease. Food intake is also directly related to temperature, increasing with temperature so long as temperature remains within the fish’s optimal range. Under practical farming conditions feeding charts should be used to provide only an approximate guide to daily food intake.
