Benthic animals
Marine benthic animals comprise the most diverse major group of marine organisms, with about 150,000 species known. The majority of these are epifaunal in nature. It is appropriate to discuss the benthos in detail based on their life styles, as they exhibit variety of life styles and diversity of the organisms.
