Marine wood borers are categorized under three families such as Sphaeromatidae ( order: isopoda), Limnoriidae ( order: Isopoda)and Cheluridae ( order: Amphipoda) of the Phylum Arthropoda and two families of the class lamellibranchs such as Pholadidae and Teredinidae in the Phylum Mollusca.
