It gives the idea of how the fishing craft has been developed from the ancient time, different types of powers used for propulsion of fishing craft, limitations of indigenous craft and advantages of mechanized craft. It briefs about the factors influences for fishing craft development, viz., topographical factor, geographical and physical factors etc., It describe about classification fishing craft with respect to various factors such as depth of operation, size of the vessel and duration of voyage etc., It gives the information about traditional fishing crafts of different states of India like Gujarath, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamilnadu etc., It describe about the mechanization of fishing craft from traditional craft to mechanized fishing vessel in India.
