It briefs about the types of materials used for construction of fishing craft such as wood, steel, aluminium, Fibre glass reinforced plastics and ferro cement. Their properties, merits and demerits. It gives an idea about seasoning of wood, preservation of wood, effect of fouling and boring organisms on wood and its prevention. It describe about construction method of different fishing craft such as wood, steel etc., It helps to understand the construction of backbone assembly of wooden boat, setting up of moulds and bulk heads, types of planking used for construction boat hull. It gives an idea about different deck fittings and equipments used on board the fishing craft. It helps to understand the rules and regulations used for fishing craft fabrication. It also gives idea about maintenance of wooden fishing craft.
