Procedure
Prepare the solutions containing different salt concentration. Introduce the fish into the containers having different salt concentration. Take the weight of the fish before starting the experiment. Before introducing the fish estimate the dissolved oxygen in water sample by winkler’s titration method. After 30 minutes, again estimate the amount of DO in the water. The difference in the oxygen level between the samples taken after 30 minutes, gives the quantum of oxygen consumed by the fish at fixed time interval. From the estimated values, the oxygen consumed by the fish is calculated as ml/lit/kg/hr of fish. |
