2.1. Ecosystem
A community or a series of communities and the surrounding physical and chemical environment together constitutes an ‘ecosystem’. An ecosystem is a dynamic entity composed of a biological community associated with abiotic environment. The dynamic interactions that occur within an ecosystem are numerous and complex. Ecosystems are always undergoing alterations to their biotic and abiotic components. The most obvious impact of humans on ecosystems is the loss of biodiversity.
According to Odum (1963) ecosystem is the basic functional unit of nature including both organisms and their non-living environment, each interacting with other and influencing each other properties, necessary for maintenance and development of the system. World Ocean is considered as is a single ecosystem and which a large ecosystem in the world.
