1.4. Seed resources of finfish and shellfish

Coastal waters such as estuaries, mangroves and backwaters serve as nursery grounds for a number of fish and shellfish from where seed of desirable species can be collected using different type of gears. Abundant seeds of cultivable fish and shellfish are seasonally available at various locations in India.
