12.2.1.Life cycles of Cuttle fish and Squids
Squids and Cuttle fishes are Cephalopods (having appendages in their head) contributing more for the revenue from seafood. They are much preferred delicacies in many countries. Although many of them are tropical in distribution there are some species that are found in temperate waters too. They are not populary cultured in the ponds or any other aquaculture systems. But they are widely fished out from natural waters and exploited. Understanding their biology and reproduction will help in conserving this species for sustainable yield from the wild waters. |
