For early detection of disease in shrimps and prawns, the following signs of disease can serve as guide: A. General signs:

In case of disease outbreaks without any characteristics manifestation, the conclusion can be arrived at based on the mortality pattern, i.e., (i) Gradual increase in mortalities over several days to weeks are usually caused by microorganisms (Virus, bacteria. Fungi. Parasites) or nutritional deficiencies. (ii) Sudden mass moralities are generally associated with adverse physicochemical parameters such as low dissolved oxygen, acidic soil, high ammonia/nitrite levels, thermal/salinity stock and toxic substances. |
