Trouble shooting in biofilter
Filter chamber should be strong enough to hold high dense materials like gravel, sand etc. otherwise it may crack. Clogging of small voids in gravels and sand is common phenomenon, which may be is called as chamelling. In this the water flows continuously through restricted pathways. Regular back-flushing can sort out this problem. Due to clogging, anaerobic condition may develop loading to denitrification of nitrates, to and nitrites to ammonia. This may also be sorted out by backflushing and expelling out the water, rather allowing it to move back in the chamber. |
