ARTIFICIALLY DRIED FORAGES

  • Artificial drying is very efficient process but expensive method of conserving forage crops.
  • Drying is brought about by allowing hot gas (150oC) to pass through herbages for about 20 to 50 minutes depending upon the drier design and the moisture content of the crop.
  • There are driers wherein gases in the range of 500-1000oC are allowed to pass through to dry herbages within 0.5 to 2 minutes.
