DEFINITION

• Adulteration is defined as the admixture of pure substance with some cheaper low quality substance.
• It is done intentionally usually to make money although unintentionally it can happen.
• Adulteration is done by spraying urea to raise their protein content to costly feed ingredients like oil cake and feeds of animal origin like fish meal.
• Besides urea, oil cakes are adulterated with hulls and non edible oil cakes.
