Eyelid-palpebrae

EYEBALL

  • A specimen of the eyeball with eyelids and lacrimal gland in given.

  • Study the eyelids and note the cilia or eyelashes along the anterior margin of the free border. The medial canthus has the lacrimal recess or late in which is a pigmented body - the lacrimal caruncle. The puncta lacrimalia are two slit like openings on the edge of each eyelid near the medial canthus.  

Dissection

  • Carefully dissect off the third eyelid and its gland from the eyeball and remove the periorbita. Clean and define the muscles of the eyeball and trace their insertion.
  • Study the muscles of the eyeball, by referring to lecture notes.
