MILK RECORDING

• Milk recording has to be initiated for progeny testing and also to implement any meaningful genetic improvement programme. To start with about 2000 cows in different agroclimatic regions can be involved and the number can be increased in a phased manner. Individual animals have to be identified before starting the milk recording. Once a month, two - time milk (morning and evening) recording has to be done and 9 to 10 milk records are required for the entire lactation. Owner recording with periodical verification by official agents or contract recording through self-help groups may be done.
