HEPARIN ANTAGONIST

  • Protamine sulphate is a strongly basic low molecular weight protein obtained from the sperm of certain fish.
  • Given intravenously it neutralizes the heparin weight for weight.
  • In the absence of heparin, protamine sulphate itself acts as a weak anticoagulant
