Estimation of urea and BUN - Diacetyl Monoxime(DAM) method

• The method with diacetylmonoxime is the only method of urea determination where the urea molecule reacts as a whole. Diacetylmonoxime is first hydrolyzed into diacetyl and hydroxylamine, which is followed by concentration of diacetyl and urea in an acidic medium in the presence of thiosemicarbazide into a diazine complex of rose-purple color.
