Estimation of serum creatinine - Modified Jaffe's Method /Alkaline Picrate Method

  • Most of the methods used to determine creatinine concentration are based on Jaffé reaction where creatinine reacting with picrate in an alkaline medium yields an orange-stained product. Creatinine produces a stained complex with picrate in alkaline medium. The staining intensity is proportional to creatinine concentration.
