Clinical Significance

• ALT is increased in 
  • Hepatocellular injury in dog and cat (it is not useful in evaluating chronic liver disease) and 
  • Corticosteriod therapy.
• This enzyme is not useful in evaluating hepatic disease in horse, cow, sheep, goat, and pig.
