Housing for bulls
Loafing area is the space in which bulls are allowed free access to stand and move about.

-
It is better to have two row system of housing with a centre railing area. Here the animals are tied head to head arrangement.
-
This arrangement will help for easy feeding and cleaning of sheds.
-
The paddocks should be in a north-west to south-east direction in order to protect the bulls from sunlight and cold winds.
-
The bull should have an area of 16’x6’ with an open yard measuring 16’x20’. This open yard/loafing area will help for natural exercise and exposure to sun.
-
The ceiling should be 10-12’ height.
-
The rooms should have enough light and ventilation.
-
There should be a gap of 3-4’ between roof and ventilator.
-
The roofs should be in such a way for easy cleaning
-
Paddocks should have a strong wall at least 6’ height to avoid undue excitement from neighboring bulls and also the height should help in preventing jumping from one pen to another.
-
The floor should be non-slippery.
-
The floor of the pen should have sufficient slope and drainage to avoid stagnation of water
-
All the corners of the house should be rounded for better cleaning and disinfection
-
The feeding troughs should have semicircular shape so that the feed may fall back in the feeding trough and spoilage of the feed is minimized.
-
The door should be wide and strong enough. The gate at the open pen should also be strong and at sufficient height.
-
To provide cooling during summer the foggers should be fixed at the ceiling.
The fogger makes the water in to fog/mist like particles and sprays over the bull. It reduces the environment temperature around the bull pen.
