Qualitative test for nitrite in sample

QUALITATIVE TEST FOR NITRITE IN  SAMPLE

Materials

  • Concentrated sulphuric acid 
  • Test tube

Procedure

  • Take sample (1-2 ml) in test tube
  • Add concentrated suphuric acid by the sides of the test tube

Inference

  • Development of brown fumes is indicative of nitrite in the sample.
