Detection of Fluorides

DETECTION OF FLUORIDES

Aim

  • To detect the presence of fluorides in the given sample 

Materials

  • Ferric chloride (2%) solution
  • Test tube

Procedure

  • Take a small quantity (1-3 ml) of urine or stomach contents in a test tube
  • Add ferric chloride (2%) solution in drops

Inference

  • Appearance of white turbidity is indicative of fluoride  in the sample.
