DETECTION OF COPPER

Aim

• To detect the presence of copper in the given sample.

Materials

• 10% ammonium carbonate solution
• 20% ammonium sulfide solution
• 15 % potassium iodide solution

Procedure

1	1 ml of test solution + 10% ammonium carbonate solution	Appearance of light blue colour.
2	1 ml of test solution + 20% ammonium sulfide solution	Appearance of black colour / precipitate
3	1 ml of test solution + 15 % potassium iodide solution	Appearance of brown colour
