EXAMINATION OF GENITAL SYSTEM

External genital organs
Penis
- Penis of bull should be examined at the time of collection for injury or disease
- Virgin bulls should be looked for persistent penile frenulum.
Prepuce
- Palpation of prepuce to determine presence of adhesions
Testis
- The testis size, shape, form and consistency should be assessed
- Normal testis are almost symmetrical
Epididymis
- Examination of the epididymis should be done for alterations in their size, form and consistency.
Examination of Internal Genital Organs
- The internal genital organs should be evaluated by rectal palpation.
- The body of the prostrate is located on the anterior dorsal and of the pelvic urerthra.
- The vesicular glands are lobulated paired organs that lie in the pelvis.
- Vesiculites is characterized by enlargement, induration and loss of lobulation.
- The Ampulla the between the vesicular glands and the circumference is slightly greater than that of a standard pencil.
Internal Inguinal rings
- The internal ingunal rings contain spermatic cord.
Evaluation of semen producing capacity
- Scrotal circumference (SC) is an indicator of a bull potential to produce semen. To measure SC the tests were pulled firmly into the lower part of the scrotum using a Tape the SC is measured in Cm around the greatest diameter.
